„The 2019er Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese AP 13 (the auction bottling) comes from the Nikolauslay (referred to internally simply as Lay) part of the vineyard and was fermeted down to sweet levels of residual sugar. It offers an absolutely breathtaking nose made of melon, pear, vineyard peach, whipped cream, elderflower, blue berried fruits, smoke, and flowers. It proves simply outstandingly well balanced on the subtly zesty and yet creamy palate, and leaves a superb feel of fresh fruits, spices, and herbs in the long, airy, and lingering finish. The finesse, depth, and elegance packed of this wine which remains true to its style are simply to die for. What an incredible success! 2029-2059“

„The 2019er Graacher Domprobst Riesling Auslese AP 15 (the auction bottling) was made from partially botrytized fruit and fermented down to noble-sweet levels of residual sugar. It offers a stunning nose made of almond paste, mango, elderflower, honeyed orchard fruits, spices, and herbs. The wine develops the subtle suave sweet intensitiy of a small BA on the palate packed with glorious flavors of fruit and honeyed cream. The finish is sublte and gorgeously elegant, even if still, understanably, on the sweet side at this early stage. This superb dessert wine now only requires patience in order to being to fully enjoy its glorious complexity! 2034-2069“

… Christoph Schaefer dished up a magnificent collection of 2019s. All wines are outstanding if not outright classic. We feel that the sweet spot lies at Auslese level, which simply prove breathtaking (all Auslese and the BA are modern classics in the making). A special mention also goes to the magnificent Domprobst Kabinett, one of the greatest Kabinett we had ever the chance to taste. The only drawback of the collection is the yields, as quantities are small. However, no stone should be left unturned in order to lay one’s hands on some 2019 Willi Schaefer wines: The Schaefer family did (again) a stunning job. Bravo!…“

„… Nach fulminanter Kollektion 2017, aus der wir aufgrund ihrer Homogenität gar keinen Liebling benennen konnten, geht es 2018 munter weiter. Die fruchtsüßen Kabinette tendieren leicht in Richtung feinherb, was ihnen mit der Kühle, die sie ausstrahlen sehr gut zu Gesicht steht. Bei den Spätlesen blitzt wieder die -13- aus dem Domprobst auf. Der Klassiker im Hause Schaefer. Superfeines, seidiges Spiel mit Druck. Herz, was willst du mehr? Kristallklar und entspannt die Auslese -14-, natürlich ebenfalls aus dem Domprobst. Sie verbindet perfekt und auf seltene Art Präzesion und Reife…“
