The VDP classification statute
The VDP classification is based on a private statute of the VDP. This statute defines the quality of a wine by the terroir, the origin in connection with the quality. For the VDP, the vineyard is the decisive quality criterion.
The goal of the VDP classification is to determine the value of the best sites in Germany, to ensure the preservation of a unique cultural landscape, to recover the value of great dry wines from Germany, and to highlight the importance of the traditional fruity-sweet predicate wines.
